Hop & barley engraved dwarf ale glass, cushion knop

Stock Number: 4948j

This is what we believe to be a late Georgian hop & barley engraved dwarf ale glass dating from the late 18th century, c1790.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200+ years of use.  It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The glass has a funnel bowl measuring 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is engraved with a single hop and a pair of barley ears in saltire (crossed) to the reverse.   The bowl sits on a cushion knop and a short, plain stem that leads to a second cushion knop and a conical foot which measures 6 cm (2.4 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 12.3 cm  (4.9 inches) in height.   It weighs 104 g. (~ 3 3/4 oz.).   There are no chips, cracks, other significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.   There are two dark inclusions in the metal of the bottom of the bowl dating from manufacture.
English lead glass.
