Mould-blown wrythened vinegar decanter

Stock Number: 4959

This is what we believe to be a scarce Georgian, wrythened vinegar carafe dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1740, and possibly French in origin.
The decanter is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear commensurate with some 250+ years of use.
The decanter is Indian club shaped and is decorated with moulded wrythening.   The base is plain and has a rough pontil mark with a high kick-in.  The base measures 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter.  The decanter is 14.5 cm (5.8 inches) in height.
There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration. The neck has not been ground so it never had a stopper.
French soda glass weighing in at only 92 g. (~ 3 1/4 oz.).
