Honeycomb-moulded balustroid wine glass, Liege

Stock Number: 4357

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, honeycomb-moulded balustroid wine glass probably originating from Liege in Belgium and dating from the middle to late 18th century, c1770.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use.  It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The glass has a rounded bucket bowl measuring 4.8 cm (1.9 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is honeycomb-moulded to the top half and flute moulded to the lower half and sits on an inverted balustroid stem with a basal cushion knop.  The stem leads to a conical, folded foot which measures 5.8 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 12 cm (4.8 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.
Thinly blown glass weighing in at only 64 g.
