Pair of late Georgian facet cut tapersticks

Stock Number: 4539

This is what we believe to be a pair of late Georgian, facet cut stem glass tapersticks dating from the end of the 18th century, c1790.
The tapersticks are in excellent condition for their age.  This means, of course, that they show age related wear and tear to the rims of the feet consistent with 200+ years of use.   They have rough pontil marks on the bottoms of the feet.
The tapersticks have dentated socles measuring 3.7 cm (1.7 inches) across.  The socles lead to diamond facet cut stems with hexagonal drip collars which lead to domed and cut feet.  The feet measure 8.2 cm (3.3 inches) in diameter and the tapersticks measure 15.7 cm (6.3 inches) in height.   Each taperstick weighs 205 g. (> 7 oz.).   There is the expected very light chipping to the edges of the cut facets of the socles and stems and edges of the feet.  There is significant scratching to the inside of the socles where the wax has been pried out over the centuries. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.
English lead glass.
