"Bristol" Blue cream jug with nipt diamond waies

Stock Number: 2872

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, small mould blown, 'Bristol Blue' English, cream jug dating from the mid to late 18th century, c1770.

The jug is in good condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with 200+ years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.

The jug is of baluster form measuring 4.5 cm (1.8 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The jug is decorated with nipt diamond waies and sits on a short conical foot which measures 4.3 cm (1.7 inches) in diameter.  The jug itself is 9.5 cm (3.8 inches) in height.   There is a small crack in the bowl of about 1 cm in length where the handle meets the body and some slight roughness to one side of the tail of the handle.  There are no chips, other cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.

It is made from English lead metal.
