Part-wrythen moulded dwarf ale glass

Stock Number: 4764

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, English, part wrythen-moulded dwarf ale glass dating from the late 18th century, c1790.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200+ years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.7 cm (2.3 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is closely wrythened to the lower half and sits on a wrythened cushion knop, a short stem, and a  shallow, conical foot which measures 6.6 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 12.8 cm (5.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.   There is a collector's sticker to the base of the foot.
It is made from English lead metal, weighing in at 105 g. (~ 3 3/4 oz.).
