Louis XVI engraved French wine glass

Stock Number: 5000c

This is what we believe to be a small, French, Georgian/Louis XVI wine glass dating from the late 18th century, c1790.  A very similar glass can be seen in Jacqueline Bellanger's book - "Verre d'usage et de prestige, France 1500-1800".
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows the age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot and the rim of the bowl consistent with 250+ years of use.  It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.
The glass has a rounded funnel-shaped bowl measuring 6.8 cm (2.7 inches) in diameter at the rim.   The bowl is engraved with a band of stylised flowers under the rim and is cut with a band of printies to the lower quarter.   The bowl sits on a slim, six-sided pedestal stem and a conical, folded foot which measures 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 14.7 cm (5.9 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
French soda glass.
Provenance: The D.S. Neave collection, Marly-le-Roi, France.
