Georgian flue-moulded double series opaque twist goblet

Stock Number: 5033

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, flute-moulded, double series opaque twist wine goblet dating from the mid 18th century, c1765.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250+ years of use.  It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The glass has an ovoid-shaped bowl measuring 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is flute-moulded to the lower half and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of seventeen "cotton" enamel strands would around a twist of two enamel cords.  The stem leads to a conical foot which measures 8.5 cm (3.4 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 16.2 cm  (6.5 inches) in height.   It weighs 340 g. (~ 12 oz.).   There is a tiny 3 mm scratch to the outside of the bowl.  There are no chips, cracks, other significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.
English lead glass.  A perfect glass for a modern size serving of red wine.
