Georgian wrythen moulded cream jug, blue glass rim

Stock Number: 5007

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, wrythen-moulded cream jug with an applied blue glass rim dating from the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, c1800.
The jug is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the base.
The jug is of baluster form in the clear colourway and measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) by 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter at the rim which is decorated with blue glass.  The bowl of the jug is decorated with broad slightly wrythened fluting.  The jug is 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in height to the top of the pouring lip and has an applied looped handle. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
