Pair of cut-glass oval dishes, Van Dyke border

Stock Number: 4805

This is what we believe to be a pair of Georgian cut-glass oval dishes dating from the end of the 18th century, c1780.
The dishes are in excellent condition for their age.  This means, of course, that they show the age related wear and tear to the rims of the bases consistent with some 200+ years of use.
The dishes measure 21.8 cm (8.7 inches) in length and 15.8 cm (6.3 inches) in width and stand 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in height.  The dishes have Van Dyke cut rims and large hobnail diamond cut sides.  The bases are star-cut.   There are the expected, very minor flea bites to some of the cut facets, especially to the tips of the rims.   There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other evidence of restoration.
English lead glass weighing 620 g. (1 lb 6 oz.) each.
Provenance: with Delomosne, 12 June 1993
