Dutch-engraved English baluster wine glass

Stock Number: 4803

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, English, Dutch-engraved, baluster wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot commensurate with over 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.
The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is engraved with a formal floral border under the rim and sits on an angular knop, a plain stem with a long, well-worked air tear, and a small basal ball knop.  The stem leads to a conical, folded foot which measures 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 15.4 cm (6.1 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, or any evidence of restoration.  There are three tiny inclusions in the metal of the bowl.
English lead glass weighing in at 140 g. (~ 5 oz.).
