Georgian blue glass egg cup with folded rim

Stock Number: 5017

This is what we believe to be a Georgian blue glass egg cup dating from the end of the 18th century, c1790.
The egg cup is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use.  It has a rough pontil mark on the base of the foot.
The glass has a small, bell-shaped bowl measuring 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the folded inward rim.  The bowl is plain and sits on an extruded short plain stem with a basal knop that  leads to a conical  foot which measures 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter.  The egg cup is 8.2 cm  (3.3 inches) in height.   It weighs 68 g. (~ 2 1/2 oz.).   There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.   The glass egg is not included and is just used to illustrate its purpose.
