Mixed twist wine glass, bell bowl

Stock Number: 3782

This is what we believe to be a scarce, English, Georgian, mixed twist wine glass dating from the middle the 18th century, c1760.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use.    It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.

The glass has a bell bowl measuring 6 cm (2.4 inches) in diameter at the rim.   The bowl is plain and sits on a mixed twist stem consisting of a single white enamel strand intertwined with a spiraling air gauze.  The stem sits on a high conical foot which measures 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 16.5 cm (6.6 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. The glass is a little bit wobbly on its foot

It is made from English lead metal.
