Dutch-engraved tall bell bowl goblet

Stock Number: 4791

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, Dutch-engraved plain stem wine goblet dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1750.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  It shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot commensurate with over 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.
The glass has a large bell-shaped bowl measuring 8.6 cm (3.4 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is beautifully engraved with a formal border under the rim in a similar manner to that seen on "Newcastle" light balusters, and sits on a long, plain stem.  The stem leads to a domed foot which measures 8 cm (3.2 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 19.2 cm (7.7 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, or any evidence of restoration.  There are two tiny inclusions in the metal of the foot.
Lead glass weighing in at 195 g. (~ 6 3/4 oz.).
