Pedestal stem tazza, 22 cm diameter

Stock Number: 3639

This is what we believe to be an English, pedestal stem Georgian tazza dating from the late 18th century, c1790.
The tazza is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with 200+ years of use.  It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.
The tazza has a shallow bowl with an upturned rim measuring 21.8 cm (8.7 inches) in diameter.  The bowl sits on a collar and an eight-sided pedestal stem.  The stem ends in a triple collar and a domed and folded foot which measures 12.5 cm (5 inches) in diameter.  The tazza is 12 cm (4.8 inches) in height.
There are two small inclusions in the metal of the bowl and some light scratching to the surface consistent with use.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
It is made from English lead metal and weighs in at 740 gm (1 lb 10 oz).
