English, eight sided pedestal stem goblet

Stock Number: 2767

This is what we believe to be a large, Georgian, pedestal stem wine goblet dating from the mid 18th century, c1750.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot and to the edge of the bowl rim consistent with age and use.

The glass has a rounded funnel shaped bowl which is 10.5 cm (4.2 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl sits on an eight-sided pedestal stem that leads to a conical, folded foot that measures 10.8 cm (4.3 inches) in diameter.   It is 23.8 cm (9.5 inches) in height and weighs 390 gm. There is a rough pontil mark to the base of the foot.

There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
