Liege a trafforato bowl

Stock Number: 3922

This is what we believe to be a Georgian a traforato (spun glass) basket originating from Liege in Belgium and dating from the late 18th century, c1780.
The basket is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with 200+ years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The basket is of a flared bucket shape, the bowl rim measuring 21 cm (8.4 inches) in diameter.  The foot measures 15 cm (6 inches) in diameter and there is a significant kick up into the body of the basket.  The basket is 15.3 cm (6.1 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
