Double series opaque twist wine glass

Stock Number: 4640

This is what we believe to be a Georgian, double series opaque twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the bowl and the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The glass has a rounded funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.2 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl is plain and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of a spirally wound tape interleaved with a spirally wound gauze.  The stem leads to a wide, conical foot that measures 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 15 cm (6 inches) in height.   There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.   There is a small piece of white frit in the metal of the foot.
English lead glass weighing 130 g. (~ 4 1/2 oz.).
