Double series opaque twist wine glass, folded foot

Stock Number: 4405

This is what we believe to be a scarce Georgian, double series opaque twist wine glass with a folded foot dating from the mid 18th century, c1760.  Folded feet are scarce on opaque twist glasses and indicates an early glass of its type.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the bowl and the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot.
The glass has a rounded funnel bowl measuring 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter at the rim.  The bowl sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of five enamel strands wound around a central solid core.  The stem leads to a conical, folded foot that measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter.  The glass is 14 cm (5.6 inches) in height.   There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.   There is a collector's sticker to the base of the foot.
